I painted this a while back, just thought I'd share it here with all the wonderful traditionalists.
I hope it measures up to your tastes.

I really love this.  It reminds me of the paintings of the old Dutch masters.  Well done.

I like the folds of the fabric and the shadows cast on her face. I find portraits very hard and unforgiving to paint. I don't use oil because of all that mixing of colours and a messy media to handle. So well done.

Thank you, CorinaWan!
Yes, portraits for me too are the hardest thing to paint. The fabric is quite forgiving, if the roundness of a fold is moved over from reality it is still ok. Now if the roundness of a cheek is moved, bingbadaboom, you get clown. :-)
It drives me crazy sometimes but feels really good when it works.

Yes, A friend of mine. If you were looking for just a yes or no then please stop here. I saw that you too are a student so the rest is just expounding on the affirmative. ~In actuality though she was draped head to floor in the sheet and I had to create the rest with a stuffed t-shirt manikin. If you look at the WIP, you can see how some of the folds around her neck were modified with the new 'model.' Her face and beautiful expression are really the only thing from the sitting. "The Study of Jenny's Eyes" is also from the same sitting. I should explain that I also take hundreds of reference fotos due to the fact that she couldn't sit there the entire time and she did come back again to help with reflected light modifications.

Beautiful work - especially I love the job you did on the definition of fabric. And it's always good to see traditional media in the digital age. Cheers!

Thank you, I am amazed at how fast digital is compared to traditional though, it's easily four finished images to one or more!

Indeed, digital develops extremely fast, it's quick and productive. Still I believe, traditional art will survive. Actually you can see a good traditional training behind almost every successful digital artist. And if we don't survive, at least we go down swinging =)

I will tip up a rum tumbler to you sir, when the time comes to tip up rum tumblers.
-as I just woke up...this cup of coffee is just not 'spirited' enough to warrant the salute.
