Be true to your Croft. Only when you discover what is inside can you properly react to what is outside.
Find yourself. Play your game.

The gesture of the hands on the statue is called a Mudra. Here the left hand or female hand is in the Abhaya mudra. Abhaya in Sanskrit means fearlessness, it symbolizes protection, peace, and the dispelling of fears. To western eyes, it looks like the gesture that means "stop." In both cases, this gesture implies fearlessness before a potential enemy. The Right hand is in the Dhyana mudra. This is the mudra of meditation, of concentration on the Good law, and of the attainment of spiritual perfection. It implies being open, absorbant.

Revision 01march2013: Fixed her left eye, the bandage on her right arm, added shadow of arrow onto statue and refined the statue's face.
Sketched, drawn and painted solely in Painter12 and readied for the web with Photoshop.

I see that in the end not only you did an entry for the contest... Three!! ;) They're all great works... I love this, you've created a good movement effect and sensational shades, and also you've given prominence to the statue and I love that symbolizes. A great a beautiful work Wayne! :)

Well, It has already finished. It has been interesting and fun... This increases the adrenaline =D They could do more competitions like that ... and give a prize (although small) to the 500 finalists! hehe! What do you think? ;) Regards and kiss Wayne

Hi Ginabra! Hehe, it's back to the drawing board, eh? :D
I think it was a great learning experience. That was my prize.
To look at it all another way, perhaps a little outside the box so to speak, I imagined this as a job with a client. Here was someone looking for artwork of a certain type and I tried to supply it to them. I failed and didn't get paid.
That's real world experience for us with real world lessons. We all got to practice and try and produce our best work for a major client. It doesn't happen very often. It was a challenge to be sure and exciting just to dream.
As for the amount of prizes, I think that a small prize pool is better. It's more realistic. It also couldn't hurt to be proportional to the size of the contest. I.E. if 100,000 people entered and the sponsor created revenue on it, they would probably benefit them even more to elarge the prize pool. Who knows, maybe the next one will pay out 5 places?
I like the fact that my work was seen...I just don't know by who... ooh, there's that dreaming thing again...:D
Cheers and have a tip top day with a smiling kiss right back to you.
