Hey Thanks JHMurphy! I needed the hands to pop out as best as possible on both of 'em. These are my best hands so far.
And good luck to you to!

It's nice, but I have two nitpicks. One, wheres her chin!?? There's no shadow definition, so it looks like her neck and face are one. Two, that hand position is extremely awkward, painful, and almost impossible, I can't have my arms in that position, without my thumbs only touching at the tips. If the thumbs touch all the way, the only comfortable way to have the rest of the arms is straight back, otherwise you're like breaking your wrists. Everyone's different, but it looks forced and awkward, unless her arms are supposed to be stretched out in front of her body, but then her hands are too small for that, there's no depth in the picture. Not trying to be rude, just trying to give you some pointers to maybe make it better.

Hi RachelLuhn!
Thanks for your help, I guess I really do have a long way to go before I make something that works for everyone, but hey, I will keep trying.
Have fun!

I love this one! It's just as brilliant as the last. They both exemplify the very essence of the side they stand for; the light one has light casting down, like that's where her powers are coming down from- something heavenly. Her facial expression is also very open and benign, as well as her posture. So the contrast made by this one complements it well- the light coming from beneath her, like she's harnessing infernal power or something. And her hypnotic, piercing eyes and posture really suit her. I also really like the perspective in the hands- they turned out fantastic. Great job! You've probably got one of the winning spots secured with these- you deserve one, anyway :)
Good luck! :D

Thank you AmethystSonata! Your 'read' is just the thing I was hoping to purvey. In the light, the hands holding and presenting while in the dark, reaching as if to take or grab. I took over eighty pix of my hands trying to provide a suitable reference, or in the dark piece, references. I just had to alter the colors and the sizes. My 'mitts' aren't so `delicate and the actual colors never match up.
I hope to find the time to match the light version up to the second dark version in technique. With the light version I used an oily blender brush thingy on the face and hands and in the dark I used just the airbrush. I also tried to channel the old madonna look to the first and although I really like it, it isn't getting the response that the dark is. Plus practice helped me get better.
I have no idea what the judges will like or need for their campaign so it couldn't hurt, right?
So to all of us, I wish the best of luck for a victory is at hand.

Thank you blue-bones!
I tried to explore our perception of apparent light and dark influences. This was more fun than I thought it would be.

Thank you Liol! This cintiq and I seemed to have come to an understanding, at least on this one anyways. How about you, your work is Very vibrant and everything is tied together so well, do you use the intuos type or a cintiq? It's not listed on your paintings.

Oh, Intuos! I don't have much room to work with real paint so over the years I've been developing my skills with digital. I try painting like I would in real life-which has helped me become really comfortable with tablets. They can be awkward at first though, so I completely understand! Thank you very much, for the compliment!

Thank you Lady Odessa! I am just glad to be on first page of the contest entries!
I think the first one, 'the light', turned out to be really good practice and I hope to get a chance to bring it up to speed.
